Major success for Regina Palkovits
Prof Regina Palkovits is one of two researchers from Aachen who have won the Werner Siemens Foundation’s ideas competition, which is endowed with 100 million Swiss francs.

Prof Regina Palkovits and Prof Jürgen Klankermayer have won the Werner Siemens Foundation (WSS) ideas competition with their project “catalaix: Catalysis for a circular economy“. The two researchers from RWTH Aachen University will receive 100 million Swiss francs in funding over a period of ten years to set up a WSS research centre in Aachen.
In addition to her work in Aachen (Chair of Heterogeneous Catalysis and Technical Chemistry), Regina Palkovits has also been Director of the Institute for Sustainable Hydrogen Economy (INW) at Forschungszentrum Jülich since last year. The INW forms the core of the Helmholtz Cluster for a Sustainable Hydrogen Economy (HC-H2).
Two other Jülich researchers are involved in ‘catalaix’: Prof. Peter Wasserscheid, the spokesperson for HC-H2, and Prof. Ulrich Schurr, the head of another structural change project associated with the research centre, BioökonomieREVIER.
